Surah Al-Fajr
The Dawn. A beautiful Makki Surah focusing on patience and the power of Allah.
وَالْفَجْرِ (1) وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ (2) وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ (3) وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ (4) هَلْ فِي ذَلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِذِي حِجْرٍ (5)
Wal-Fajr. Wa layaalin ‘ashr. Wash-shaf’i wal-watr. Wal-layli izaa yasr. Hal fee zaalika qasamul-lizee hijr.
Translation: By the dawn. By the ten nights. By the even and the odd. By the night when it passes. Is there not in that an oath for one of understanding?
About Surah Al-Fajr
Surah Al-Fajr is the 89th chapter of the Holy Quran. It was revealed in Makkah. The name means The Dawn. It begins with Allah swearing by different times of the day and night to highlight the importance of time.
This Surah tells stories of ancient nations that turned away from Allah and faced tough consequences. It reminds us that worldly wealth and power are temporary. The true success belongs to those who have a peaceful soul and return to Allah with satisfaction.
